    Stroke Clinic Questions

    What is stroke clinic?

Stroke clinic is a weeklong program intended to help introduce new and unexperienced swimmers to the fundamentals of all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. This is intended to be used to help new swimmers determine if they have the endurance and stroke capabilities for summer swim. It is also to help returning swimmers focus on each of their strokes and review the fundamentals.

Should my swimmer participate in stroke clinic?

Stroke clinic is not a requirement to join swim team but is strongly recommended for new swimmers or swimmers that are not confident in their technique coming into the new season. This clinic is not intended to function as a week of swim lessons. We are not teaching basic water safety. We are teaching stroke, form and technique. Your swimmer must be able to complete a full unassisted lap across the pool prior to joining the clinic.

    When is stroke clinic?

    May 5th – May 8th

5-6pm – New swimmers / No stroke experience

    6-7pm – Experienced swimmers / Returning swimmers

Please come to the session that corresponds to the skill level of your swimmer. The pacing of each session will depend based on the skill level of the group.

*** practice breakdown for normal swim season will depend on age

group, stroke clinic is separated based on skill level.

There are three afternoon practices on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Will we take off for any holidays?

Memorial Day – Monday, May 25th – NO PRACTICE/POOL CLOSED

What should I do if my child is ill or injured?

It is the expectation that a parents/guardian is on property for all swim practices and swim meets. If your child is participating in a carpool, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to make sure the responsible adult has the permission to make medical decisions on behalf of your child. Please do not drop off your child and leave during practices or meets.

Please contact Ronald (340-626-2362) immediately if your swimmer is ill or injured and unable to make regular practices or participate in a swim meet. If your child is not feeling well, please do not attend practices.

Also, swimmers will participate in relay teams at swim meets. The sooner we know of an absentee swimmer the sooner we can plan for an alternate so the other swimmers can still participate in their event. We are required to notify the other team of any roster changes prior to the swim meet starting.

What is our inclement weather policy?

We will make a final call on all cancellations 30 minutes prior to the start of practices. We will send out a message to the entire team about cancellations via email, Facebook and our GroupMe app. Please download the GroupMe app to stay informed: https://groupme.com/join_group/107305217/RJwNmy9X

Where else can I find information about practices, meets and general team updates?

Please join our Savannah Quarters Sailfish Swim Team Facebook group!

    When are swim meets?

There will be TBD meets during the course of the summer season. SQCC will host half of these events, the other three swim meets will require our team to travel to the other swim clubs.

We do not yet know which meets we will host, and which teams we will compete against, but the meets will happen every Tuesday over the course of the season.

    FAQ

Welcome to the wonderful world of swimming! We are SO EXCITED to have you on board and are here to help you prepare for the upcoming summer 2026 season! Here are some FAQ's that we hear from our new parents:

    1. What if I am unsure if my child is ready for swim team? Do I register them now?

Swimming is a very physically and mentally demanding sport (and of course fun!) and we want both you and your kiddos to be comfortable before committing! The requirements to join our team is the ability to swim one full lap unassisted. THIS DOES NOT mean that it has to be pretty- that's why we are here! SAFETY is our main concern!

To give everyone extra time, we are offering 2 weeks of pre-season clinics with Coach Ronald for ALL swimmers! This will give us an environment with a smaller group of kiddos, to better work with your child. Registration closes on May 8th, 2026 for team!

Please register online through this site for the clinics! If you cannot attend all dates listed, please email [email protected] so we can try to see your child before tryouts week!

    2. What if my child is NOT ready for team, but they still want to swim?

Savannah Quarters will be offering a Junior Swim Team in the afternoons starting May 13th and both mornings and afternoons starting May 28th! These swimmers will learn the 4 strokes, with the goal of joining our summer league team next year! More information will be released soon on this!

    3. Do you offer private lessons?

Savannah Quarters is currently hiring and training our aquatics staff. We will release more information on private lessons soon!
